Regularly reviewing NDIS supports is essential to ensure they continue to meet the participant’s needs. Life changes, evolving goals and new challenges all make it important to check whether current supports are still working effectively.
A review allows participants and families to reflect on what is working and what isn’t. Supports that suited last year may no longer meet current needs. Regular reviews also provide an opportunity to adjust funding, try new services or explore additional supports.Â
Signs It May Be Time for a ReviewÂ
You don’t have to wait for an official NDIS review. Consider a review if you notice:Â
- Daily supports are no longer sufficient or are too restrictiveÂ
- New goals or interests that require different supportsÂ
- Changes in health, mobility or daily routinesÂ
- Communication or coordination challenges with providersÂ
- Frustration or stress for the participant or familyÂ
Preparing for a ReviewÂ
Preparation helps ensure the review is productive and focused on outcomes. Families and participants should:Â
- Gather documentation from therapists, allied health professionals or care providersÂ
- Note any challenges, successes or gaps in current supportsÂ
- Clearly define short-term and long-term goalsÂ
- Discuss any questions or concerns in advance with a Support CoordinatorÂ
Involving the Right People Â
Reviews are most effective when everyone involved is included. This may include:Â
- The participant themselvesÂ
- Family members or carersÂ
- Support CoordinatorsÂ
- Key providersÂ
Open collaboration helps ensure supports are aligned with the participant’s daily life and long-term goals.Â
