How allied health works with Montessori Care
From first enquiry to ongoing therapy, here’s what to expect. No jargon, no surprises, just clear steps.
The process, step by step
Step 1: Enquiry
Call us, fill out a form, or ask your coordinator to refer you. We’ll listen to your needs and answer any questions.
We respond to all enquiries within 24 hours. You don’t need a referral to get started, just get in touch.
Step 2: Assessment
A therapist meets with you (or your child) to understand strengths, challenges, and goals. This can happen at home, school, or in the community.
Assessments are thorough but relaxed. For children, they’re play-based. For adults, they’re conversation-led. We’ll explain everything as we go.
Step 3: Therapy Plan
We create a clear plan with measurable goals, aligned with your NDIS plan if applicable. You’ll know exactly what we’re working toward.
Your plan is a living document. We review it regularly and adjust as your needs change. You’re always part of the decision-making.
Step 4: Delivery & Review
Therapy sessions begin. We track progress, provide regular updates, and write NDIS-ready reports for plan reviews.
Sessions are delivered where they’ll have the most impact, at home, school, daycare, or in the community. We also provide strategies for between sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about allied health services, NDIS funding, and working with us.
Getting Started
Do I need a referral to access allied health services?
No. You can contact us directly. However, if you have an NDIS plan, your support coordinator can also make a referral on your behalf. GPs can refer for Medicare-funded sessions.
How quickly can we start?
We aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours and begin services within 2 weeks. For urgent needs, we can often fast-track the process.
What happens at the first session?
The first session is usually an assessment. For children, it’s play-based and relaxed. For adults, it’s a conversation about your goals and challenges. We’ll explain everything and answer your questions.
Can I choose where sessions happen?
Yes. We deliver therapy at home, school, daycare, in the community, or at our clinic, wherever will have the most impact for you or your child.
NDIS Funding
Can I use my NDIS funding for allied health?
Yes. Allied health services are typically funded under Capacity Building, Improved Daily Living in your NDIS plan. We can help you understand which budget line applies.
What if I don't have NDIS funding yet?
We can still help. We offer self-funded sessions, and we can also support your NDIS application with assessments and evidence if needed.
Do you provide reports for NDIS plan reviews?
Yes. We provide detailed progress reports that are aligned with your NDIS goals. These reports are designed to support plan reviews and demonstrate outcomes to the NDIA.
Can I use Medicare for allied health?
Yes, if your GP provides a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan or a Mental Health Treatment Plan. We can guide you through the process.
Reports & Reviews
How often will I receive progress reports?
We provide formal progress reports at least every 6 months, or more frequently if needed for plan reviews. You’ll also receive regular verbal updates after sessions.
Are your reports NDIS-ready?
Yes. Our reports are written in plain English, aligned to NDIS goals, and include measurable outcomes. Support coordinators consistently tell us our reporting is among the clearest they’ve seen.
Can I share reports with my coordinator or GP?
Absolutely. With your consent, we can share reports directly with your support coordinator, plan manager, GP, or any other member of your care team.
Working with Schools & Centres
Can therapy happen at my child's school or daycare?
Yes. In-context therapy, where sessions happen in the child’s natural environment, often leads to better outcomes. We work with educators to embed strategies in the classroom.
Do you collaborate with teachers and educators?
Yes. We believe therapy works best when everyone is on the same page. We share strategies, attend meetings, and work alongside educators to support your child’s goals.
What about the Montessori Academy partnership?
We have a dedicated early intervention pathway in partnership with Montessori Academy. Therapists work directly within Montessori Academy centres, collaborating with educators to deliver aligned support.
Switching Providers
Can I switch to Montessori Care from another provider?
Yes. Switching providers is your right under the NDIS. We’ll make the transition as smooth as possible, including reviewing existing reports and continuing where your previous provider left off.
Will there be a gap in services?
We aim to minimise any gap. Once you contact us, we can usually begin within 2 weeks. If you have existing reports, we can use those to fast-track the assessment process.
Do I need to tell my current provider?
It’s good practice to let them know, but it’s not required. We can guide you through the process and help with any paperwork.
Still have questions?
Our team is here to help. Call us or send an enquiry, we’ll get back to you within 24 hours with clear, honest answers.
