Our Therapeutic Recreational Activity (TRA) program is designed to support individuals through engaging and purposeful activities, enhancing physical health, emotional well-being, cognitive skills, and social connections.

Program Overview

Imagine using everyday hobbies and activities to improve someone’s physical health, emotional well-being, thinking skills, and social connections. That’s the essence of Therapeutic Recreational Activity (TRA). This program applies recreation and leisure activities to achieve therapeutic benefits for all individuals, especially those with additional needs.

Therapeutic Recreational Activities Include:

  • Art Therapy/ Arts & Crafts
  • Music Therapy/ Music Class
  • Dance Therapy/ Dance Class
  • Culinary Therapy (Cooking)
  • Educational & Social Skills Board Games
  • Health & Nutrition Education
  • Science Experiments
  • Martial Arts
  • Yoga

TRA Program Details

Sessions: Saturdays from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm

Duration: July 7 – September 7 (10 weeks)

Age Groups: Children (5+), Teens, Adults

Location: Montessori Academy, 57 Edwin St, Croydon

Scenario of a Day

Our Therapeutic Recreational Activity program offers a unique approach that combines various activities to help participants develop essential life skills in a practical and engaging way.

Imagine a day where…

  • You start your day with our Social Skills Class, where you’ll collaborate with teammates to plan the day’s schedule, manage time efficiently, and communicate effectively.
  • With your plan in place, move on to our Money Management Session. Here, you’ll learn essential budgeting skills, practice recognizing different denominations, and calculate change, all of which you’ll immediately apply during a practical shopping activity.
  • Once you’ve gathered your ingredients, it’s time for the Cooking Class. Prepare a delicious meal while enhancing fine motor skills, applying functional math, and practising turn-taking and teamwork.
  • End your day with Art and Music Therapy, where engaging activities will help develop your listening skills, attention span, fine motor skills, and imagination.

Our program is tailored to address specific needs and interests, ensuring a well-rounded and enriching experience for all participants.
